Thank you to the North Eastern Counties Dobermann Society for inviting me to judge their Open show at the lovely Ripon Racecourse, in conjunction with Darlington championship show. It was my first time venturing to this show ground and I found it a lovely venue. Thanks to all the exhibitors for my entries and to my stewards keeping everything in order.

Baby Puppy Dog (0,0)

Baby Puppy Bitch (2,0)

• Stracey’s, KRIGER’S MIRROR IMAGE. What a smart little Br/R puppy of 4 months that just oozes confidence. Her head is developing nicely, feminine but with strength. Eye is almond shaped and a good colour and again just shows her confidence. Very nice earset and they are also expressive. Her neck, although she is young, has a lovely shape and flows into her shoulders into a good topline and tail set. When you look at her as a whole, even at this young age, she has a very good shape. Strong bone and perfect cat like feet. She’s a good little mover showing reach and drive that can only get better and better as she matures.

2) Adams, ARITAUR HENNESY. Another lovely Bl/R pup who is a little older at just shy of 6 months. She has a lovely feminine head that is developing correctly. Very dark eye that is also a good shape. Nice earset and she uses them well. Lovely length of neck into a good topline/tail set at this age. Her front is developing nicely and brisket is down. Nice bone and another with very tidy feet. Very nice mover really using herself. Just needs to firm up which will happen.

Minor Puppy Dog (3,0)

• Stracey’s, KRIEGERS LASTING IMAGE. 7 month old Bl/R young dog who looks a seasoned professional already with his handler. He has a strong male head and has lots of length to muzzle with equal proportions, ears are a tiny bit large but expressive. lovely dark almond shaped eye and his head is in proportion to his body. Long, slightly convex neck which flows into shoulders and then his topline which he holds very nicely. Lovely tail set. He has enough forechest and brisket, just needs to drop a tiny bit. Strong bone and very tight feet. He moved out well with lots of reach. Just needs to strengthen up in his hindquarters to stay in balance with the front and as he matures this will only get stronger

• Cannon’s, SACARIA’S BLUES. 8 month old Br/R male who had a very happy disposition about him. I think the handler said that this was their first show and they both did a very good job. He has a nice stamp about him. His head is strong and obviously male. Head planes are almost there and he has nice length to his muzzle and skull. Lovely dark almond shaped eye. Good ears, just keep an eye on them. His neck has length and shape and flows into his topline which at this stage just needs to firm up a little. His body again is almost there just needs to firm up all round which will happen with age. Lots of round strong bone and good feet. He moved well but just needs to stay a little more focused.

Puppy Dog (2,1)

1) Brannons and Mycroft’s, SUPETA’S BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN. 10 month old Br/R male and what a lovely balanced young dog he is, and me for me ticks so many boxes. He has a strong male head that’s not too heavy with equal proportions, dark expressive eye and good pigmentation all round, ears are set on well and lie flat to his head. Super shape and length of neck set into strong shoulders that have good angulation. Topline is bang on and he has a good tail set. Enough forechest and brisket is down to tight elbows with a good spring of rib. His hind angulation matches his front and he has a strong first and second thigh with a good turn of stifle. When you look at him he is square and has a good centre of balance. Strong round bone and cat like feet. Legs are straight and hocks are well let down and parallel. Moved out so well with correct footfall and lots of reach and drive with his hindquarters sending him forward into a lovely rhythm which made it look just so easy and natural. I’m sure the sky will be the limit for this lovely young dog. BPD, BPIS, BIS

Junior Dog (1,0)

• Bishop’s, KORIFEY HEARTBREAK TO SACARIA. 22 month old Br/R male that when you first look at him see that he is of medium square build. He has a clean head with parallel lines with good length of muzzle and skull. Dark eye colour and ears are set well on his head. Very nice length of neck with convex shape going into his shoulders. His topline is strong and gently sloping into correct tail set. Forechest is well developed but not overdone. Brisket is to elbow and he has a correct centre of balance. Strong tuck up. Good rear and front angulation. Straight legs that are strong and parallel. Could have a little more thigh but is still young. Nice feet. He moved out well with a steady balanced gait with a good stride and stayed straight coming and going. At one with his handler. RBD

Novice Dog (1,0)

Graduate Dog (2,0)

• Wright’s, KITADO EVER SO FUNKY. Br/R Male at 3 years old. I really liked the shape of him. His head is masculine, clean and in proportion to his body with parallel head planes. His eye is almond shaped and colour is good. Ears set well. Correct shape and length of neck. His topline gently slopes into his tail set and his back is the correct length. He has enough forechest and brisket is just to elbow. He looks balanced and in proportion. Good front and rear angles and is well muscled in rear. Straight legs and hocks are even. Good feet. He moved out ok, sometimes letting himself down by pacing but when he did get it right had correct reach and drive.

2)  Brough’s, SUPETA’S MIAMI HEAT FOR ANIIRAZ. Almost 14 months old Bl/R male who is powerfully built. Very strong head with good depth of muzzle and has the blackest almond eyes and pigmentation with lovely expression. Ears are set well and sit well on his head. He has a strong neck into well built shoulders. His topline was a little unsettled today just looked like he needed to relax into himself a bit more. Brisket is to elbow and he has lovely strong round bone and tight feet. Very muscled throughout and shown in perfect condition with a gleaming coat. He moved out well, has a good length of stride and when he relaxed it got even better.

Post Graduate Dog (2,0)

• Kent’s, KORIFEY RECKLESS JW. Bl/R 22 month old male shown in top condition with a pleasing outline. His head is masculine and clean but would prefer a tiny bit more length all round. Strong underjaw. Very dark eye full of expression. Ears set well on head. Muscular neck with a very good length and shape set well into his shoulders. Strong topline and short back into a lovely tail set. He has a well developed chest and depth to elbow. Nicely angulated front that matches his rear and has strong straight legs with tight feet. Correct amount of tuck up. He has a muscular first thigh, could have a little more turn of stifle but his hocks are well let down and even. An elegant mover with an even balanced stride that didn’t deviate at all.

2)  Gallagher’s, MANZART EXCALIBUR AT IZRALIGHT JW. 21 month old Bl/R male slightly finer than 1 but again has a nice shape. He has a lovely head, parallel head planes with length to skull and muzzle. Dark almond shaped eye, neat ear set and his head is clean. Long, very shapley neck going onto a topline that has correct shape and tail is well set. Needs to fill out in body a bit more but is still young. Just enough forechest and needs to drop slightly in brisket. Stands nice and straight and has lovely tight feet. On the move I just felt that he needed to use his hindquarters a little bit more to give him a bit more power in his stride but stayed balanced and even.

Limit Dog (6,3)

• Young’s, KRIGER’S HUNKY DORY AT MALIBRAY JW, SHcex ,Osw. An all male Br/R 3 year old male shown in lovely condition. He has a pleasing male head with level head planes. His muzzle is deep and he has a good underjaw. Ears are neat and set well on his head. Very expressive almond shaped eyes with good colour. Clean muscular neck that has a very nice shape and sits well into his shoulders that are well defined. Topline is very strong and he has a correct tail set. His body is square with a good spring of rib and is balanced with his length of leg. Good rear angulation with lots of 1st and 2nd thigh and well defined stifle. Strong round bone and legs that are straight. Hocks are even. Could have slightly tighter feet. Movement was even and steady and not too rushed, staying in balance with enough reach and drive.

• Griffith’s, KORIFEY AXL AT AMIOUS JW. Bl/R 22 month old male with lots of substance. He has a strong male head with length and depth to muzzle. Very dark eyes with lovely expression, good earest. Neck is clean and muscular and shoulders are well developed. Topline looks strong. Has enough forechest that has depth with a nice spring of rib. Front angulation matches the rear.  His body looks fit and trim. Straight legs and nice bone. His movement was very expressive with lots of reach and hind leg action.

• Strachan’s, MAIGHREAD”S BEN NEVIS.

Open Dog (4,2)

• Downie’s, KNECHT’S MANDEK. Bl/R almost 4 year old male who looks so strong. Very nice head that has length and depth with level planes. Deep muzzle and good underjaw. Dark almond eyes and well set ears. Strong neck that has a good length into well built shoulders. Topline is firm and gently sloping. He has a good front with a well developed forechest and depth to brisket and ribs are well sprung. Well defined underline. Good rear angles with lots of thigh muscle and hocks are well let down and even. Strong round bone with straight legs. Feet could be tighter. Lots of reach and drive with an even pace.

2) Hunt’s, UK CH  TUWOS  MR MAJESTIC  VONSALLATE. Br/R almost 3 year old dog. Another nice male, again looking so strong and fit. Masculine head that is balanced in length with even planes.  Eyes have good expression and ears are set well that look eager and willing to please. Enough length of neck, very strong topline into a lovely tail set.  Forechest is not overdone and brisket reaches to elbow giving him a good centre of balance. Lovely tuck up. Good rear angulation with well defined muscle. Straight legs and even hocks. He moved out steadily with an even stride that stayed consistent.

Veteran Bitch (2,1)

1) Rimmer’s, AMAZON TOUCH THE BREEZE IN MILLWOOD. 7 year old Bl/R female who is such an elegant shape. Beautiful balanced feminine head with a lovely dark almond shaped eye. Her ear set is good and they are shaped well. Beautiful reach of neck that sits into her shoulder nicely going into her topline and tail set. Good front and rear angles. Tight feet. She is a lovely rich black colour with rust to match. Moved out gracefully showing a balanced even stride. BVIS.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1) Beck’s, SACARIA’S BLUE JEAN BABY AT BEKESHA. 7 month old Bl/R female who looked very professional today. She looks so elegant starting with her head which is very feminine. Dark expressive eye and good ear shape and set well on her head. Lovely reach of neck sitting nicely into her shoulders. Topline is shaped well and she has a good tail set. At the moment she is a bit up in the leg and her chest needs to drop to her elbows slightly but the shape is there for her to mature into. Straight legs and tight feet. Moved out with a good stride for a young dog and stayed balanced and in rhythm. BPB, RBPIS

Junior Bitch (4,2)

• Mycroft’s, IMIDZT LADY MELODY OF SUPETA (Imp Lav) 16 month old Br/R female with a lovely shape and good coat colour. She has a strong but elegant head that is all in balance. Dark almond shaped eyes and good earset. Her neck is feminine and sits nicely into her shoulders and continues into a short sharp topline with correct tail set. She has a lovely front with a well developed forechest and good front angulation. Her body looks square and balanced and she has a good spring of rib. Very nice rear angulation with lots of thigh muscle and a good turn of stifle. Hocks are strong, even and well let down. Legs are straight and have good bone. Feet could be a bit tighter. She moved very well. Powering herself forward from her strong hindquarters and had lovely reach as well to complement her action. RBB

2) Burnahm’s, JODASEEN ALL OF MY HEART. 18 month old Br/R female who has a lot to like. She has a pretty head, Planes almost even. She has a keen expression from her almond shaped eyes. Ears could sit a little closer to head. Lovely feminine neck that has a very good shape but also looks strong. Her front is well developed and her front angulation is good. Very tidy topline and has a good shape, and tail set is bang on. Brisket is to elbow and she looks balanced and in proportion. Nice spring of rib. Very good hind angulation with strong 1st and 2nd thigh, turn of stifle and lots behind her. Legs are straight with round bone and hocks are strong and parallel. Tight feet.  She moved out well with lots of impulsion and stayed balanced in her stride. Just preferred 1st’s head.

Yearling Bitch (2,1)

Graduate Bitch (3,0)

• DANIEL’S, SUPETA’S MIAMI KISS FOR MATTACANE. 17 month old Bl/R female with a lovely balanced outline. She has a strong feminine wedge shaped head that is in proportion to her body. Depth and length to muzzle equal to her skull. Neat small ears set well on head. Eyes are dark and correct shape. Very nice length of neck into well set shoulders and then a firm short topline down to her correct tail set. Her forechest is well developed and has depth to elbow with well sprung ribs. Good front angles. Her body looks balanced and square. Correct underline. Lovely rear angles with strong muscular thighs. Legs are straight. She has a lovely length of stride and stayed balanced and I think there may be a bit more in reserve for her to show off.

2)  DOWNIE’S, KNECHT MILEENA. 2 year old Bl/R female who has such a beautiful head. Classic wedge shaped with parallel planes. Correct depth to her muzzle and lovely clean lips. Dark almond shaped eyes that are expressive and bright. Ears are set well on head. Her neck has a lovely shape with length. Topline is good with nice tail set. She has enough forechest. Her front angles are slightly forward but she has a good spring of rib, with depth to her chest. She looks fit in her body and has a good tuck up. Good rear angles with lots of muscle and her legs are straight with round bone. Tight feet.  She moved out very well with good length of stride with an even pace using her hindquarters well.

Postgraduate Bitch (4,2)

• Taylor’s, KRIEGERS IN STYLE JW. 2 year old Bl/R elegant female. She has a very feminine head that is in proportion to her body. Planes are even. She has a dark eye that goes with her glossy short dark coat and pigmentation. Ears set well. Lovely length of neck that she carries well. Topline is firm and gently sloping into a lovely tail set that she holds on the move. Could have a little more forechest and brisket is just to elbow. Good rear angulation. Straight legs and tight feet. A very steady, balanced mover showing lots of elegance in her stride.

2) Adam’s, ARITAUR LAPIS LAZULI. 3 year old Bl/R female with lots of expression. Strong feminine head with good length to muzzle and skull. Lovely dark almond shaped eyes. Ears could sit a bit flatter to head. Elegant neck with length into good topline and tail set. Well developed chest and front angles match rear angles. Has a good spring of rib and chest is to elbow. Could have a little more tuck up. Lots of muscle in her hindquarters and legs are straight and well off for bone. She was very attentive on the move. Staying with her handler to a steady and balanced pace and rhythm.

Limit Bitch (2,0)

• Hunts, JOJAVIK EXPRESS YOURSELF AT VIRSCO. 4 year old Bl/R female who looks so elegant. She has a very good head. Parallel lines, good stop and the darkest almond shaped eyes. Tight lips and looks so clean. Very nice earest. Neck has good length and is slightly convex in shape to her well developed shoulders. She has an even topline that slightly slopes down to her well set tail. She has a good forechest but is just a little shallow in brisket. Good front and rear angles but could have a little more muscle in her hindquarters. Good tuck up. Straight legs and perfect cat like feet. She moved out so well showing lots of reach and drive with an elastic gait and had perfect footfall.

2) Gallagher’s, IZRALIGHT JITTERBUG. 4 year old Br/R female who looks balanced. She has a feminine head with good proportions. Head planes are parallel. Her eyes are dark and almond shaped. Ears are set well on head. Lovely convex neck into muscular shoulders that also have good angulation. Her topline is the correct length just a tiny bit heavy over wither and she has a good tail set. Her forechest is well developed and she has a good centre of balance with her brisket reaching elbow. Body is square. Good hind angulation with lots of 1st and 2nd thigh with a well bent stifle and hocks are even. She moved out ok today. Just needed a little more spring her step to give more reach and drive.

Open Bitch ( 3,1)

Evan’s, CH JUST LET ME ADORE YOU JW. 2 year old Bl/R female with such presence. Her head is very feminine and elegant and in proportion with her body. Good head planes, dark expressive eyes and well set ears sitting close to her head. Beautiful length of neck that has a lovely shape into her well set shoulders. Strong gently sloping topline into a very good taii set and all is held on the move. Her forechest is well developed but not overdone and brisket reaches her elbow with a nice spring of rib. Good rear angulation with enough muscle. Straight legs and lovely tight feet. She really comes into her own on the move. Such an elastic gait with perfect footfall. Stayed straight and had lots of power from her hindquarters sending her around with great reach and drive. Lovely to watch. BB , RBIS.

Daniel’s, TWOS MACY GRAY AT MATTACANE. Almost 3 years old Bl/R balanced female. She has a lovely head that is strong but feminine. Good length to skull and muzzle that has depth and planes are parallel. Almond eyes that have good expression along with her neat set ears. Beautiful shaped neck into strong shoulders and her topline is strong and gently slopes to her tail which is set on well. Forechest is muscled but not too prominent and brisket reaches her elbow giving her a good centre of balance. She looks square in shape and her ribs are well sprung but for me she was carrying a little bit too much weight today. Lovely rear angulation with lots of muscle in 1st and 2nd thigh with a well bent stifle. Hocks are well let down and are even. She has good movement staying even, straight and balanced with good reach and drive.
